The HERCULES X4 and HERCULES X8 industrial drones are manufactured with 100% Colombian engineering, this makes it easier for us to offer after-sales services, warrantees, training, certifications, and consultations without depending on third parties abroad. On the one hand, we sell Black Square brand drones and on the other, we provide remote sensing services, which includes equipment rental with specialized operators.

Hoy hemos tenido la oportunidad de participar en una capacitación práctica sobre el uso de drones para los alumnos del #SENA: Centro Industrial de Mantenimiento y Manufactura - Regional #Boyacá. La tecnología de los drones está en constante evolución y es importante que los jóvenes tengan la oportunidad de experimentar con ellos y conocer sus aplicaciones en el mundo laboral.

Durante la capacitación, los alumnos aprendieron sobre los componentes básicos de la aeronave, su funcionamiento, seguridad y regulaciones generales. Además, tuvieron la oportunidad de operar nuestra última versión del #HERCULES X4 y experimentar con diferentes ejercicios prácticos.

Es emocionante ver la pasión y el interés de los jóvenes por esta tecnología y esperamos haber contribuido a su formación y crecimiento profesional. Esta tecnología tiene un gran potencial y anhelamos ver a estos jóvenes utilizándola de manera innovadora y responsable en el futuro.

CARTAGENA – ASBESTOS PROJECT

PHASE 1/3: DATA ACQUISITION

Asbestos is known for being a group of natural minerals that form fibers resistant to heat and many chemicals, and for this reason, it has been used for the construction of buildings, houses, schools, roofs, among other products. Since the mid-20th century, asbestos has been studied for being the cause of different lung diseases such as lung cancer, which is why it has been banned in many European countries. Today #Colombia is part of that list of countries that have said NO to this material, this through Law 1968 of 2019, also known as the Ana Cecilia Niño Law.

@BlackSquareSAS has been hired by the @UniCartagena to fly over the entire city of #Cartagena, in an aircraft equipped with state-of-the-art hyperspectral sensors from @HySpex. The main goal of the project is to use airborne hyperspectral data to detect the presence of roofs built with asbestos throughout the city. This project is the first time that hyperspectral technology has been applied on city-scale in Latin America, and we hope that with the results of the project, other cities will be encouraged to implement this technology to detect asbestos in their roofs.

Our heavy lifter dron model HERCULES X8 has just finished what is probably one of the largest survey ever done, integrating dron + lidar + high-end hyperspectral sensor, for mining exploratory purposes.
· 60 km of flights
· 1.5 km2 covered
· 25 flights
· 2.5 TB of data
· 3 working days
For this project we teamed up with @hyspex , a lead hyperspectral sensor manufacturer from Norway, and @pioneerexploration, geophysic services provider company from Canada. Great team ! And looking forward for the next challenge!

Last weekend we had the opportunity to participate

Last weekend we had the opportunity to participate in #Chocoshow 2021 in #Corferias, in #Bogotá city, #Colombia, an event exclusively devoted to the cocoa industry.

In such event, we introduce for the first time the prototype of our “Machine for the classification in real time of entire cocoa beans based on hyperspectral technology”. This machine allows, in the first stage, to separate cocoa bean from impurities, and in its second stage, to separate well fermented cocoa beans from wrong fermented cocoa beans. Thanks to this tool, producers would be able to negotiate better prices for each kilogram of cocoa beans, since they now can guarantee an excellent quality to the buyers.

The event allows us to meet the potential users of the tools and receive their feedbacks. And the conclusion was unanimous: they were looking for a machine like this for many years!

We finish the event with the feeling of having validated a business idea with a great potential to change many lives. Thanks to @hyspex for their support and being the supplier of the heart of this machine, i.e, the hyperspectral sensors. Thanks to #Prediktera for their support and being the supplier of the key software which allows the communication between the sensors and the pneumatic system. Thanks to @senacomunica for their support providing the cocoa expertise. Thanks to @minciencias_co for having funded this innovative project. And of course, thanks to the @BlackSquareSAS team, all of them, tenacious and audacious engineers with a clear goal in mind: to shape the technology for changing lives.

Close look to the separation subsystem of our Cocoa Hyperspectral Optical Sorting Machine, based on @hyspex sensors, designed and manufactured by @blacksquaresas . After several iterations, we finally decided to go with this pneumatic-mecanic hybrid alternative: the electrovalve moves a cylinder with air coming from a compressor, which in turns deviates the falling parabolic trayectory of the cocoa bean.

Eventually, when the hyperspectral mathematical model is in place, different actions may happen in a single channel: 1) if cocoa beans is class A, it moves first row of cilinders; 2) if cocoa beans is class B, it moves second row of cilinders; and 3) if cocoa beans is class C, nothing happens. At the end of the sorting process, the machine has separated incoming cocoa grains, in a non-destructive manner, in three different quality classes.
